Salary and hours:

Café staff, visitors to the farm, students, community, partner organisations.

£19,621 Pro Rata  (depending on experience)- 20 hours per week, including weekend work.

Main Purpose of the Job.

·         To develop and deliver an outstanding café, coordinating the café team developing good community links and high ethical standards which contributes to the farm visitor experience

·         In partnership with the Farm's Manager and team members, and in line with Farm to Fork principles, develop opportunities for our visitors and users to increase their knowledge of cookery skills, food and health knowledge and encourage well being

·         To work alongside the Farm Manager in developing and assisting with the delivery of a small farm shop

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate the café and it's team so that it maximises its potential to provide a range of quality meals and snacks and to generate revenue for the Association
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of a new farm shop
  • To plan daily and weekly menus in line with ethical sourcing, seasonality, demand and healthy eating, with support from the cafe team
  • To prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals to customers ensuring all food is prepared to high standards
  • Set a high standard of customer service and interact with customers, taking orders, serving drinks, meals and snacks
  • Maintain a safe, clean and hygienic environment in the kitchen and café to high standards and to maintain Safer Food Better Business
  • Develop and implement an ethical sourcing policy, identifying suitable suppliers, maintaining stock levels and ordering new supplies as required. 
  • Where required assist with delivery of community projects and activities at the farm, such as public events, activities and cookery classes, wellbeing activities
  • Be responsible for the financial health of the Café, and provide regular monitoring information.
  • To be part of the budget preparations and take responsibility for monitoring the catering aspects of the Association budget ensuring that all café resources are maximised
  • Contribute to funding applications as required
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure the success of programmes
  • Any other duties commensurate with the salary and grade of the post, which may be assigned from time to time​

This role will involve regular weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis. Some evening work may be required from time to time.
